Default Cable TV - Satellite TV?

Does anyone know if there are any cable alternatives to Comcast? Our service sucks considering the huge price!

We live in South Minneapolis (right at about Hwy 62) - does anyone out there use Satellite tv like Direct TV or Dish Network? The programming looks a lot better - value is certainly there with the incentives they offer like free DVR, etc. But I've heard the nightmares of "storms" or clouds causing interference - can anyone comment?

I'd love to hear of any alternatives to Comcast and/or experiences with satellite! Thanks so much!

We switched from Charter to Dish Network last summer. I was also fed up with the service from our cable company. We really have not had issues with storms at all. We have had one outage that lasted about 2 minutes. We had a couple short outages on one of our tv's but our other one's worked?? We went from cable internet to DSL and our DSL is actually faster then what we had with cable, we are only a block or so from the relay node or whatever it is called. Overall I have been very happy with the switch.

Been using DirecTV for over 10 years and don't plan to switch back to cable any time soon. Very heavy rain outages have happened for a few minutes on occasion, but rarely. I have never had issues from clouds or snow.

Default Just a question...

How much are people actually paying (after taxes fees, ect) for cable service and for satellite and dsl?

I've been with cable my whole life and never considered switching because my mother-in-law has direct tv and pays about $100/month (has a lot of channels that I wouldn't watch, occasionally does pay-per-view, ect) I don't need/use premium channels.

I think my last DirecTV bill was around $70 for the "Choice Xtra" 200 channel package with no premium movie channels and 3 receivers.

I pay almost $138 for cable internet and digital cable (with HD channels and the sports package). Pretty crappy. I'd switch to DirecTV if my apartment had a clear view of the Southern sky.
