Hi all, I have to commute from Burnsville. Close to the Twin cities Outlet to North Memorial in Minnetonka.
I am really dreading this.

What is the best route to minimize stress/traffic for a 9-5 (+/- 1.5hrs) job? I know the big routes like taking 494 but I am looking for suggestions from the the community to find out some tips and tricks of side roads to make this commute bearable!

Sometimes, not all the time, side road style jaunts for to save some time, other motorists know of them also.
The google map says the route south is 22 minutes. Is that right?

Thanks but I already know how to use Google maps. I'm hoping for some tips like taking old Shakopee Rd or something

In my albeit limited experience, the worst part of I-494 is close to I-35W junction when traffic jams up at the off-ramps.

You could try taking County 13 to US 169. North on 169 to the section of I-494 that is well west of I-35W.

Or continue on 169 to County 7 (in Hopkins) and go west into Minnetonka, skipping 494 completely.

Certainly every other poster to the TC forum knows better than me, but this is what I would try once to see how bad it is.

There really are no back roads that would be reliably faster. I would suggest using Waze as any of the roads, streets, or highways can be congested and, in my experience at least, Waze is best at picking up current traffic conditions.

No good back roads through Edina unfortunately. And the River presents challenges.

I have a co-worker with a similar commute taking 13 to 169. This avoids worst part of 494.
