hi everyone, thanks for even taking the time to read this. i'm originally from central florida and i currently live in massachusetts, i attempted college in indiana and now i'm going to it in connecticut. but that's only for about a year or so, while i really get my **** together and figure out where i really want to live.
i'm a geography major, so i've really been looking into every major metro area in the US. i've been a small town boy all my life and i'm really looking to change that. my hometown in central florida was 100% strawberry fields and where i live in massachusetts is just a small town on cape cod. i've basically grown out of the whole small town lifestyle, there's nothing that it offers for me anymore. i'm 18, a signed DJ & producer, buddhist & bisexual. a city is basically my only option to meet other interesting, unique people. so i've had minneapolis/st. paul at the top of my list for a while now, and i was wondering if you think i'd like it there. i'd obviously visit before i made a final decision, but everything about it (sans the rough weather, but i'm not going to rule it out just because of something like weather) really seems like i'd enjoy it there. my hometown in central FL is actually very southern so i still have my good manners & politeness, and i know in minnesota there is the same with "minnesota nice". would minneapolis/st. paul be the best option for me? i'm a moderate democrat too if that means anything, since i think minneapolis is mostly the same. thanks for any help, i really appreciate it!! ![]() |

yep, Minneapolis is definitely liberal. You sound like a prototype citizen for the uptown area. If you move here check out the 8 block radius centered around the intersection of Lake St and Hennepin Ave in South Minneapolis. I'm positive you'd like it there as there are ALOT of people with your range of interests, etc.

There's a beautiful buddhist temple right outside of Farmington, about 35 minutes from the cities. I'll check to see if anything is closer.

A quick google search notified me that there is a Lao Buddhist temple in NE Minneapolis off of 2nd st. There could very well be others too.

and i'll look further into both of those temples, thanks so much for all your help! ![]() |

Hello -- I have visited Minneapolis/St Paul a couple of times and found them to be very beautiful cities. The city parks are gorgeous. The public transportation system is good and downtown has the skywalk system which helps out in the cold weather. The older sections of town are beautiful, with the diversity of architectural styles and people, too. It make it a pleasure to see and experience everything. The four seasons keep you on your toes; change is good. Minnesotans are known to be healthy people -- they have one of the longest life-spans in the US. The political climate is moderate and progressive. Good luck and keep us posted!
