Maybe you clinked the wrong link.

I got to a story about an organized, violent carjacking spree. That seems pretty newsworthy unless maybe your used to that stuff in your neighborhood.

Anyway, what story did you get?

Can you blame them? This is what happens after riots. The urban riots throughout the country in the late 1960s saw the same issue. Businesses don't come back for a very long time. Nobody wants to operate in an environment that subjected to rioting and violence.

This.

After the '67 riots Newark, NJ became white and business flight central.

CCO is running ads from SD Governor Noem pining for MN businesses to pull up stakes and head over there. Have a feeling many will at least be considering it......I know I would be.

SD has been doing that for decades. They don’t have the talent to grow their own business, so they spend a ton of money trying to steal from other states. Only if they would spend more on their own terrible school systems.

Oh, so now promoting your state in the name of prosperity and growth is akin to "stealing"? How do you think states like Texas got to be the economic powerhouses that they are? Hint - they didn't do it just by growing their own businesses. They lured others from states with awful tax burdens, suffocating regulations and yes, histories of social dysfunction - with irresistible, business friendly incentives and the enticing promise of a better life on all levels. You know..... Basic Capitalism 101?

Isn’t Austin a San Francisco junior?

What does Austin being a liberal college town (like ALL college towns) have to do with SD trying to lure businesses from MN?

That's a very rich, and moronic statement.

"Tech" as is always used as the barometer for intelligence by you liberals, is alive, well, and growing rapidly in South Dakota. Sioux Falls has become a hotbed for technology companies. There are multiple very successful software developing companies that have popped up in just the last 15 years. MOST of which were started here. One of the most successful agriculture technology based companies in the country, Raven Industries, is headquartered here. Also, in Brookings is one of the worlds largest manufacturers of video boards called Daktronics. These are companies developed here, not enticed from anywhere else.

Some states, ESPECIALLY Minnesota has been sooo nice to our state in over-taxing/over-regulating their companies giving them the incentive to at the very least, move their headquarters here. Keep up the good work. Governor Noem recognizes an opportunity to pick up the pace in bringing YOUR companies across the border to South Dakota. Your governor and elected leaders from the metro area have been doing us a big favor.

Our school systems, outside of the reservation system and some of the more desolate areas that cannot consolidate because of geography, are easily on a par with neighboring states. Our averages do get beaten down because of the two reasons listed. We would LOVE to hear your answers to these 2 issues from your extensive knowledge. Keep in mind, schools on the reservations are more controlled federally and by each "sovereign" nation than by the state. These rez's don't have the big casino money either that is enjoyed by so many tribes in Minnesota.

Are you really unaware that all states have some sort of effort to persuade businesses to relocate to their state?
Like this one, for example. https://mn.gov/deed/ed/why-mn/
