Jurors had been deliberating since Monday before finding Potter, who had served as an officer in Brooklyn Center, Minn., for 26 years, guilty of first- and second-degree manslaughter charges in the death of Wright.
....

Potter is believed to be the third Minnesota police officer to be convicted in the on-duty death of a civilian. The first was Mohamed Noor, a Somali-American officer found guilty of manslaughter after fatally shooting a white woman. Chauvin became the second when he was convicted of murder in April.

Guilty. I'm hoping officers think twice or even thrice, before shooting an unarmed suspect. An armed suspect is a completely different issue.

This lays the foundation for future prosecution of police officers, who have in the past been able to use I was scared and I thought he/she was armed excuse. Justice is served! (anyone catch the comic book reference?)

So, 200 murders and double-digit daily carjackings in 2022 now that cops know defending themselves or their partners from death/grave injury will result in immediate lynching?

She killed an unarmed man...albeit by mistake, but that doesn't make it any less lethal...she must be held accountable just as anyone not dressed in blue would have been.

She made a MISTAKE. I will bet my last dollar that you judgmental folk have never had your adrenaline level anywhere near what that poor police officer was experiencing. Had the POS simply complied this would never have happened. He had an active warrant!
You people want to "defund the police". I wish you the very best of luck in finding anyone in his/her right mind who would ever want to become a police officer in your state. That prosecution team made it loud and clear that anyone who would apply for a law enforcement position in the state of Minnesota (where I will NEVER spend on red cent) is totally insane.

Appeal is coming..........Mr Wright made a decision to up the circumstances by attempting to flee vs. comply. Not sure why YOU can be charged as a full participant when someone with you robs a bank/shoots someone as if you did it yourself, yet in this case Mr. Wright had no accountability for what occurred.

1st- Mr Wright was endangering the other officer (by driving off) and she actually had the right to use lethal force (even though she didn't know it at the time).

2nd- This case was heavily influenced by the media hype/other Floyd case. That was a rogue cop, frequent complaints. This case, she never had a single complaint, never once fired her taser/pistol in the line of duty.

Best case sentence: Give her 2 yrs house arrest, 10 years probation.

CNN said the guidelines are 6-8.5 yrs but she has no previous convictions so the judge can go light.

She shot a known violent criminal who was about to injure or kill another cop - by mistake in an extremely stressful situation, no less. Now, what are you standards for cops defending themselves? Are they only allowed to shoot after being beaten to death, shot to death or ground down to half of their original size while being dragged?

Though I support the verdict, I take no joy in it. This is a tragedy all around. I certainly feel some sympathy for officer Potter, who clearly made a mistake.

That said, a mistake that takes a life cannot just be dismissed. By her own admission that she intended to use a taser, the officer conceded that lethal force was not justified. Were it, she should have intentionally used her weapon. But she did not. She claims she intended to use non-lethal force, and her calling out of "Taser!" at the scene indicates this (the notion that she said as much while diabolically intending to actually user her weapon is absurd). A uniform does not grant carte blanche to kill.

Accountability is a good thing. It is especially important that it be applied to those who are given the power to confront and detain citizens, for reasons that are rather obvious.

This about sums up how it happened. Comply. Don't get all 'movin' around.'

It was not an immediate lynching. It was a fair trail with a jury.
But sure, you can think she was lynched on the spot If it makes you feel better.
Truth has no place in an emotional response.

Lynching is mob justice and in this case justice was carried out by mobs of thugs outside of the courthouse, not by intimidated judge and jury inside the courthouse who knew perfectly well what would happen if they didn't get the mob the "correct" verdict. Justice is dead, and this farce of a "trial" further confirmed it.
