Hi all! My hubby and I are moving to the TC this summer. From a local perspective, what are the top three things you LOVE about the area? Specifically, non-touristy local stuff that makes you say "Geez, I'm so glad I live here!"

Thanks!

Connor

Restauraunts, low unemployment, lots of outdoor recreation available within the city. My wife and I moved here in June and we love it. The people do take some getting used to though, as they tend to whine and complain a lot, but it's only because they don't realize how good they have it.

-Kim's Chinese/Vietnamese Restaurant off of Central and 17th
-The great choice of blue collar watering holes, especially the Rice Lake corridor in North St. Paul and Scoops in Coon Rapids
-The Hiawatha Line Light Rail and I can't wait till more lines are built

I have to agree with the other posts. Generally, I'd say:
1) Cultural opportunities
2) Great neighrhoods to live in in the city (pretty rare in many metro areas these days)
3) Culinary opportunities

I could go on, but you only said 3!

(I don't live in the Twin Cities, but about 2 hours to the north in Duluth.)

1. Big ethnic restaurant selection - Nepali, South Indian, French North African, Afghan, Nigerian, it's all there.

2. Great parks, or so I hear

3. Big arts / theater / live music scene (ranked #2 or #3 in the last "Best Places to Live" I saw, if I remember correctly).
