Default HOA Fees in Eden Prairie

My wife and I are thinking of moving to Eden Prairie with our four-year old daughter. We've heard great things about the schools in Eden Prairie. One question I have regards the HOA fees in developments and townhome complexes. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

It varies. The ones I've been looking at are in the 200/month range, but I'm single and settling for around 1300 sf without a lot of amenities. There are also a small handful that are around a half or a third of that, but that far outside of the normal range makes me wonder if they get the balance from assessments or stiff you with the exterior maintainance. Depends on what you want, I guess...the Edina Reality search site includes HOA fees in the descriptions so its pretty easy to find by yourself.

There are a lot of factors that will determine your HO fees so it is really hard to say. Not every development will have HO fees so keep that in mind too. Are you working on that side of the cities? EP does have great schools but if you are commuting an hour each way they aren't THAT good.

Eden Prairie...... Nice suburb but so over rated people are living in lala land out here. All the old women dress like teenagers where there 200-400$ paige jeans, coach or louis vaton purse its ridiculous. Very high maintance women... its ridiculous! I higly recommend on not raising your children here because the high school is full of rich brats. I seen girls just at the age of 9 carry coach purses and there big oversized sunglases and nails done. Most women have a 6 carat ring and the people out here are so snobbish and rude I hate it. Alot of people out here are like the desperate houswives snobby . I lived out here for 4 1/2 years and have never seen anything worst since i moved here!~!@!!!!

TRISHA84,I live in Eden Prairie, but I am not rude, only when I can come off as being rude without knowing it! BTW,my parents don't have the 'keeping with the jones" ideology! Since,my dad has been using the same car for the past 13 years and it has rust on it,but he doesn't go buy a BMW or whatever... In addition,if our girls are high maintenance, then that is good for me since I would rather a girl that try to look nice than a girl who doesn't try to!

We lived in the "slums" of Eden Prairie (townhomes just south of Pioneer Trail and near 169), and the folks around us were fine, but the little $200k townhome we lived in isn't really typical for that suburb. It was a nice place to live, though I much preferred east Bloomington when I lived there at the corner of Old Cedar Ave and Old Shakopee Road.

Parts of Eden Prairie are sort of like that, yes, but after we moved down to the Atlanta metro, I've decided folks in MN are fairly tame as far as the "keep up with the Joneses" mentality is concerned compared to some of the folks down here... I think that phrase was coined in Atlanta.
