Default Decisions, Decisions-PLEASE HELP!

Hi, I am looking at a couple apartments. First of all is the Brentwood on w grant street, second is the Park apartments in Loring park, third is Lasco apartments on w 33rd, and am also looking at the Buckingham apartments. I am younger, so I want to be in an area that is accessible to things to do. I was wondering, since Im not from the cities, what would be a good choice, and if there are any other good studios or 1bdrms that you could give me advice on, staying at 700 or lower in the price range. PLEASE HELP!!!!
thanks!

The Brentwood is an older building. The area is convenient, but a tad sketchier than Loring Park. I don't know the other building names. The unit on West 33d Street depends on what the cross street is. Loring Park is always a pretty safe bet. It seems that you are looking in most of the right areas. The Hennepin and Central area may have something, ditto for Hennepin between Downtown and Uptown.

You can also google names of apt. complexes and find out their "ratings", if there are any.

I don't know a whole lot about the particular building. The neighborhood is very convenient. It isn't Disneyland, but not outwardly dangerous either. If you know how to stay safe by means of common sense, you should be very happy.

Parking is difficult in Loring Park. If you don't have a car though, Loring Park is great. If you do have a car, you might consider Uptown (W 33rd).

With the exception of "Lasco," (Might that be landlord's DBA name rather than the building name? What's the address?) I know that the other places you're looking at are all in the Loring Park area. "Brentwood" consists of three older (1920's?) buildings on Grant street, a block away from the park. They appear to be well-kept, and I know some people who have lived there a number of years.

"The Park" owns several buildings in the area, mostly, I believe, on W. 15th St. They're also mostly 20's buildings. They also appear to be well-kept. The old ones are quite charming. (If they also own 214 W 15th, well, that is a 50's-60's building, and IMO, is a ugly POS.)

The "Buckingham," at 1500 LaSalle, is an old hotel. It's also a cool old building. A friend of mine is in the process of moving there. He seems to like it.

In fact, most of the buildings within a couple of blocks of Loring Park are pretty cool and charming, and as such, they're maintained pretty well.

(Except for 316 Oak Grove. That's a POS. It's owned by "UPI." UPI is the slumlord of Minneapolis's 50's-60's apartments. UPI left another friend of mine without heat for a week last February. Based on complaints, the city was 'this close' --><-- to condemning the building when the heat was _miraculously_ fixed the next day. Avoid UPI.)
