Remebering the Victims
It's seems like when someone is killed the community comes together and talks about how things need to change...then a couple weeks later the victim is forgotten about. like lil demond reed, charez jones, and pretty soon, they'll forget about robert sheperd and katricia daniels..what ever happened to carla poole? why did kenneth get out of jail and why would someone kill a woman they call mom and her 10 year old son for a few dollars?
Some of these questions may never be answere. but when will things change? The main people who talk about changing the community usally move away when they start getting better. when i graduate im going to clark atlanta university. but after that ima come back and try and make my home town a better place. but for the forgotten victims they need someone to remember them

Minneapolis (pop 369,051) has, what, 19 so far in 2008 (through mid-June)?
By comparison, Atlanta (pop 486,411) had 28 through the end of March 2008 according to the Atlanta police site. Don't have numbers through June.
Minneapolis isn't that bad, really. Atlanta isn't that bad, either. Just use common sense. I think most murders are done by people who know the victims -- they aren't random.

Hmm...yeah, 19 dead bodies doesn't seem bad at all, right. This is horrible, I know they aren't random, but there are still instances where sometimes in a robbery they are. My friend and his family are going there soon to look at apartments and I am so scared they are going to look on the Northside of Minneapolis. Haven't you heard of initiations?? Gang members could easily shoot them just for the heck of it. And keywords for you are, " you think" which means it's not even a definite answer.

Northsider14, work for peace NOW. Don't forget these victims; don't forget any of them. Make sure you are doing your part now as a teenager to make your neighborhood a safe place. Maybe you can start some sort of community memorial for these people; don't tell us what you will do when you grow up; make those changes now.
You CAN start *now* to change things; you have a good mind and you can do something to make your neighborhood a safer place for you and others. You still have "fighting" listed in your profile as one of your interests; think about that: do you think that makes your neighborhood safer? I don't think so! Fighting isn't cool; it gets you in trouble and it makes for a mean life.

Yes, I agree with this person. Do what you can to make this be fully aware to the people in Minneapolis. Maybe even law enforcement.

Jazzymentality, I don't know where you live, but it must be very sheltered indeed that you picture your friend and his family as being targets for gangs just because they are coming to the Cities.

Did you mean initiations? Maybe *I* am the innocent here; but I don't think that this is happening here in MN.

Yeah, sorry about the spelling error, long night/day. Well, I got this link, and it's just ridiculous.

Did you read through that report? Read where the crimes happened, how they happened, and who is charged with the murders?
I know a lot of people who live and work in those same areas and they are not worried about their own safety. Why aren't they, you may ask? Well, it's because they aren't dealing drugs, or hanging with people who are.
Not everyone on that list is into drugs; but please do read it and see if it fits a description of you.

Wow, do you think I'm that ignorant? Of course I read it, and I know the reason why most of the people got murdered in the first place. It was basically for altercations mainly on drugs on the North areas of Minneapolis. And that's where the focus comes up of why we can't forget the victims. Obviously law enforcement needs to be aware of these areas..
