Default Circumcision

Is is common to circumcise your sons in Minnesota?
What percentage of men are circumcised in Minnesota?
Does it have to do with religion and/or culture?

Seems very common. Maybe slightly less in recent years. I think it is more of a cultural than a religious thing for most around here.

I would think that the number of children circumcised in MN would be equal to any other state here in the US; about 70-80% of males born in the US are circumcised. It became a hygienic and cultural tradition back at the end of the 19th century (the Victorian era) when a doctor wrote a book saying that circumcision would cure all sorts of disease states from asthma to kidney problems (and everything in between!).

As a nurse who had witnessed many circumcisions while working Newborn Nursery, I refused to let my son be clipped, and my hubby agreed with me.

Another friend (also a nurse) chose to have her son circumcised because she thought it would be better if the child "matched" his father. I feel that if you teach a child how to properly clean themselves, they won't have problems either way.

The numbers are dropping and unless you are Jewish, there is really no need for it (although I know some girls who wont date a guy who is not circumcised). There is a growing trend and circumcision is beginning to be seen as unnecessary (and an extra medical costs).

Something like 2/3's of the worlds male population is not circumcised.

I think that it is more of a cultural thing then anything and the Jews are the only religious group that I know of who practices circumcision as a part of their religion.

I've also heard that ciricumcision also removes 50% of the sensitivity from the penis. Frankly when I heard that I wasn't happy that my parents up and decided to take that away from me.
