Working and computing to Plymouth, MN
I was just offered a job in Plymouth and I am concern about computing to work. My husband would be working out of Brainerd and St. Cloud. Would anyone be able to reccommend a place to live? Also which road going into the cities is the best for computing (I-94, Hwy 169, Hwy 10 or Hwy 55) to Plymouth? I was thinking possibly the Annadale or Clear Lake or Clear Water area. Any recommendations would be great, Thank you

YIKES, commuting with a job in Brainerd and Plymouth. Not fun at all. Who will be doing the most driving? Is your DH working every day someplace and then occassionally driving to the other or is it an every day thing for both of you?

Gosh it better be worth the price of gas. Maybe Albertville? Monticello?

I would decline the job offer in Plymouth and start looking for jobs closer to Brainerd and St. Cloud.

How is the traffic on I-94 and 494 during the morning and afternoon drive home hours? Actually my husband would occasionally drive to Brainerd and St. Cloud for work but actually work alot from home. We are just looking for a place to live in a smaller town but at least 45 miles from Plymouth.

Both are very congested during rush hour.

If he can go at off hours, 6 am or 9 am vs between 7-8 that would make a difference. If you want smaller but still reasonable commute look into Montecello, St. Michael area.

If you want to know how the traffic is, you can go to this website and watch it yourself. The website up-dates at least every 5 minutes, so you can actually check it out during your drive times for several weeks and get a feel for what the daily drive would be like. Mn/DOT Traveler Information
Personally, *I* think it's pretty awful along that strip during rush hours; but I don't have to drive it everyday. I did just quit a job because of the 27 mile commute each way and it didn't matter what time of day it was, as time went on, the traffic seemed to get worse and worse (and I worked the off-shifts too). I've gone less than 10 miles in an hour on the 694- I-94 strip going to Monticello on a Friday afternoon (3PM) in the summer, and I know it just gets worse after that time of day on a Friday.
