West Bloomington vs. St. Louis Park
My son and I are still working on our plan for finding him an apartment as he starts his new job at Best Buy corporate headquarters on 9/8. We've developed a list of places in Bloomington, all west of 35W and a seemingly reasonable commute. I've also been checking St. Louis Park apartments as I heard that is a good place for young single professionals. Any opinions on one vs. the other for a recent college grad? (Or other suggestions given that he'll be commuting to Best Buy.) Are we at least headed in the right direction?

If I were 25 I would prefer SLP over West Bloomington, and South Minneapolis over SLP, unless you're in SLP really close to the lakes, then I'd take SLP. I have a friend who works at Best Buy who bike commutes from South Minneapolis down to the HQ. For him it's about five minutes slower on a bike than a car.

I would agree with you, as a 26 year old male I feel I have found my ideal location in the Twin Cities here on the southside of Minneapolis and I also ride my bike to work

You're going to find West Bloomington is going to be mostly older people with established families, on their 2nd home. There are a few starter townhomes in southwest Bloomington but there won't be much entertainment-wise for a 20-something - SLP would be much better in that regard. Avoid the Blake road area however (not as good apartments & petty crime).

I don't know which is necessarily better, but if you choose West Bloomington, I highly recommend Devonshire Apartments. They are right off of I-35W at 106th St

I'm a younger guy, well sort of, I just turned 28... anyway, I live in West Bloomington near 35W and 98th. It is definetly an older population. However, it is very convenient. I don't think you really miss out on much living here compared to SLP. I'm pretty sure you'll save on taxes in Bloomington vs SLP as well. The commute to BB HQ is also a lot easier from Bloomington.

Keep going west to get to "West Bloomington". The last two entries are really more central areas of the city.
The "Prestigous West Bloomington" people talk about lies west of Normandale.
