How is between Franklin and Lake
I am a college student looking for a place to live and I came across this cheap room that this guy is offering and it lies between W Lake St and E Franklin Ave with Lyndale Ave to it's west. So I am wondering if the crime there isn't so bad, anyone know?
EDIT: It is about 3 blocks away from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, so it can't be that bad if it's right next to a college right?

You just described the geographic equivalent of a Tetris piece. Do you have an address?

Here is a link to the crime stats for Precinct 5. You can also look up other precincts and different dates. Good luck!

So closer to Nicollet. It isn't the safest area of the City, but if you don't walk alone at night or draw alot of attention to yourself you will be fine. There are alot of college kids in the area and it is a fun neighborhood. If you are particularly worried, remember that you are safer closer to Franklin than you are closer towards Lake. Also, the church on 28th and First gives meals to the homeless.

My step son lives at 23rd and Garfield and goes to UM. He loves it there and has had no problems. As you go from Lyndale and Franklin to the east and south it starts to get a bit less safe.

That's a nice area. I wish I could live there. I'd be able to bike to Uptown, downtown, Lake Calhoun and the other lakes, within a matter of minutes. Instead I live in St. Louis Park, right off 100. If I tried biking to that area from my apartment I'd end up sweaty and my armpits would reek.

I have a female cousin who has lived near 24th and Lyndale for the last several years and she loves the area, I've asked her about safety there and she hasn't had any problems.

No. Don't live there. It's a bad block. Between 27th and 28th on Grand and 27th and 28th on Blaisdel are worse, though. I lived in this area for ten years. It's not the worst part in town for sure, but it is still pretty grimey.
Everything from 26th street towards Franklin is cool, by the way.
