Default Retiring & looking for semi-rural area outside of Minneapolis-St. Paul

We live in Eagle River, Alaska and are thinking of retiring and moving to Minneapolis - St. Paul area. We prefer to find an area where we can have large lot 1/2 to 1 acre. We have 2 dogs and 7 parrots so would want to build an outside aviary onto back of house. Would want neighborhood that wouldn't have covenants restricting that. Also looking forward to room for a vegetable garden as I think MN growing season is better than AK? Looking for homes in the 150,000 to 250,000 range. I see there is a parrot sanctuary in St. Louis Park. Are there areas around St. Louis Park that are semi-rural, safe and affordable?

In your price range, to get a lot that size, you would need to live quite a ways out from the metro area. Look towards Delano, Henderson, north to Montecello and that range. You aren't going to find anything in St. Louis Park or the immediate area for that price with any sized yard. You will probably have to check with city ordinances about adding your aviary but I can't see an issue with that in most areas.

knke0402 will become famous soon enough
Corcoran is a mecca. Its located about 15 minute drive to downtown MPLS, but the city has a minimum lot size requirement of 1 acre. Places towards Stillwater are semi rural and very close to st paul.
