Default Best Places/Cities to live with young active kids(looking to spend $400,000)

What are the best areas to live with young active children? We are looking to move from Texas. We are looking to spend $350,000 to $400,000 on a home. Schools are very important. I would like an area that does not have any "iffy" subdivisions around. Any opinions would be great. I would also like a new or newer community-a home less than 5 years old Thanks

Plymouth. Ranked best place to live in the USA! Seriously though, the parks and trails system in Plymouth is really good, the lakes, well, not so good. There's Medicine Lake, good in the winter but only good for circumnavigating during other times. Great soccer club (I'm biased) great skiing, and close to Park and Rides should you decide to go downtown. Traffic going out of town on a Friday afternoon may be a little rough though, but you won't get any better living closer to town.

Where are you going to be working? That will be a big factor in deciding where you want to live. There are 100's of places that that will meet your criteria in the Twin Cities area so you will want to find one that is close to your job.

The cities already mentioned are good, plus worth considering are southern Lakeville, Eden Prarie, Edina and Maple Grove.

There are lots of neighborhoods that would fit what you're looking for, but in my opinion, that most of them will be more than 5 years old.

A lot of our best neighborhoods tend to be the more established ones, because the amenities and services have been built up over the years, and the shade trees have had a chance to grow up. That doesn't mean you can't find a newer home though, because new infill development, and redevelopment of scattered individual lots, happens all the time.

The Twin Cities are not like many cities in the south -- "subdivisions" are not common in much of the Twin Cities metro area. There also aren't that many iffy areas, at least in my opinion.
