What qualities/amenities are you looking for, and how long a commute are you willing to tolerate?
The Star Tribune is the local news paper (also St. Paul Pioneer Press), so you'll find listings there. Also, try the City Pages for house/duplex/small apartment rentals in south Minneapolis.

If you're more comfortable living in one of those really big faux-luxury apartment complexes that dot the suburbs (I personally hate them), there's a publication called "For Rent" that has a lot of those type of listings. They have a website that I just found:

There's also a place called Apartment Search,
www.apartmentsearch.com , which the landlord pays a comission to for placement, but I'm not sure if it's the same Apartment Search that I used once back in early 2000. (Maybe they expanded, or got bought out?)
