I looked at past statistics for St. Paul. St. Paul has seen worse. One year St. Paul recorded 9 murders(2001). For a city of its size(over 277,000), St. Paul is certainly safer than many places its size.

I bet it has alot to do with the attention paid to juveniles and young adults, they commit a good number of the senseless murders. I could be very wrong here, but it seems that a highr proportion of the murders this year were committed by acquaintences.

Well it looks like Mpls is doing something right. Now if only the other crimes could be reduced as well.

It is almost the end of the year. I haven't heard much about any crime spikes in Minneapolis since I last posted here. I hope things are still holding up for the best.

Sadly, my assumption is that the crime rate will start going up in Minneapolis and elsewhere as the economy continues to sour. Desperate times often are used as an excuse for some people to turn to crime as their desperate measure of choice.

Interesting that this thread has had 2,657 views now, and something like 75 replies (?), yet only 44 persons have viewed the PDF attachments on the 1st page of the thread - doesn't anyone care about data that's actually objective on here?

I viewed the pdf's the first time I read this (downloaded them); and I just downloaded them again and re-read them. Neither of my views were counted (or shall I say the numbers didn't change either time?); so I'm wondering how that counter works!
