twin cities two is on a distinguished road
Default Relocating from India

1. Where would one go to find other families who have relocated to the Twin Cities from India?

2. Any suggestions on where to find good, unbiased information about educational opportunities and programs available for international students in K-12? Everything seems to be set up that one already needs to know which school district one wants, or else the name of a specific program. Even then, the information you find, will be biased because it is produced by those programs themselves. I am looking for a clearinghouse, resource center or website that can provide this information. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Most Indians live out around 494 (east Edina, Richfield, Bloomington.) or along Central Avenue in Northeast Mpls. There are Indian groceries on 80th and Portland in Bloomington and along Central around Lowry. I don't know of what social clubs or organizations exist.
I can't speak to specific programs within various districts. You may look for a Schoolhouse Magazine (I believe that was the name). It has data on various districts, there should be copies in the reference section of a library. If I were to personally rate the schools for the aforementioned areas, it would go Edina, Bloomington Jefferson, Bloomington Kennedy, Mpls. Edison and Richfield.

Where will you be working? There are fairly large Indian populations settled throughout the metro area. You will want to narrow your search based on proximity to your workplace and then go from there.

This is a good link for school resources: 2007 EDUCATION QUOTIENT: Today’s Schools Are Shaping Tomorrow’s Work Force

It is a magazine that specializes in corporate relocation needs and they study areas based on many factors, education level of the community, availability of everything, quality of schools, etc. This particular link is their school study.
