I think this winter will be changeable with dramatic swings in temperature from week to week. I would watch for some very cold air in December, but the rest of the Fall looks to be at or above average in terms of temperatures. I think January-March should see at or above average temperatures.

Please! Last year was not cold at all! We had one cold snap beginning of February but the rest of it was quite mild. Long but mild.

You guys seem to be in the minority. Me and plenty others thought it was a difficult winter. Where did you guys get the idea it was mild? Didn't you guys experience those weeks and weeks of face-freezing wind and snow? Or did you guys spend the entire winter inside?

Break those winter clothes out early. It is my prediction it is going to get cold and snowy soon. we have had just too many mild winters as far as snow is concerned. yes it got cold last year. but i have seen it worse.

I actually raced in Mora on one of those cold days. It was -16F air temp at the start and -50 windchill. You just dress properly.

Seriously, over the last five years, last winter was extremely mild, except for 05/06.

Actually it comes from the idea that last winter was really mild compared to winters past. The previous couple years were even more mild so last winter seemed cold. We only had what, 5 days under 0°.

Yeah, there was a really cold week or so (gotta love those -50 windchills!), but mostly it was just looonnnnggg. And it didn't snow much either, which is good for some people, but I like the snow!

According to the Farmers Almanac this winter the midwest is supposed to be colder and have a lot more snow than recent years.
