Some Minneapolis suburbs (e.g., Hopkins) have a downtown.
The corner of Lyndale and 98th is a city center of sorts. Kinda. It has a cool clock tower, anyway.

What? Why? I get out plenty. Sir.
You know me I guess. From a comment on an internet forum I guess you know me? Right? You really think I should get out more? I guarantee I know the Twin Cities inside and out, hands down, 100% more than you'll ever know. So why should I get out more again? Someone mentioned immediate suburbs that have good downtowns. Name them fool. Name them....name some immediate suburbs that have downtowns...lets hear it.

I know you're going to mention White Bear Lake too, don't bother, its not an immediate suburb. So, with that said, I'll keep waiting.

Missed that call, buddy.
I was going to tell you that Brooklyn Center has no downtown whatsoever, and that if you are going to call Hopkins and Osseo immediate suburbs, we should also all Wayzata, Excelsior, Long Lake, Chaksa, Carver and Anoka to your list.

The 50th and France area of Edina could be considered a downtown in an inner ring suburb.

You think Carver and Chaska are on the same page as Hopkins and Osseo? I can get to downtown Minneapolis from both Hopkins and Osseo in less than 10 minutes. Streetcars used to run to Hopkins...
Ahhh how did I forget Anoka though? I think of the older suburbs as immediate and suburbs like Maple Grove, Burnsville, Blaine, Woodbury, Chaska as outter ones...

So.....lets define these downtowns by where the streetcar system went. You have Saint Louis Park, Hopkins, Excelsior, Edina/Morningside, Wayzata, Columbia Heights and Robbinsdale. Of those, only Hopkins, Excelsior and Wayzata have actual downtowns.

How is Excelsior's downtown? I have never been there
