Default What is the job market like in Minneapolis for general labor jobs?

Jobs in construction, restaurant jobs, pizza delivery jobs, etc.

Are people hiring in Minneapolis for the most part?
I've checked craigslist and snagajob.com and it seems like there are jobs but I wanted to get an overall "feel" of the job situation there.

Thank You so much

The following is just my opinion, but...

Chain restaurants are always hiring, but that's because they suck to work for, offer crappy benefits (if any), and thus have high employee turnover. Non-chains where the employees make good money and/or decent benefits don't have much turnover, so it's harder to work for them.

Pizza delivery is the same. Domino's, Pizza Hut, and Papa John's treat their employees like crap, offer no benefits, and have tip-stealing "delivery charges," so drivers see their tips reduced, while the corporation pockets an extra $2 for every $9.99 special they deliver. Easy to get hired there. But anywhere that the employees have benefits and make good money, there's going to be very low turnover.

Construction is probably a tough job market right now, especially anything residential. Commercial is probably not much better, but public works type jobs could be getting a boost if Obama's plans for reinvesting in the nation's infrastructure come to fruition.

Mayor Ryback (Minneapolis) says he has lots of public works projects lined up, but we know that Minneapolis is undergoing a budget crisis right now. If Obama puts his money where his mouth is and significantly increases infrastructure spending, you can bet Minneapolis will be in line for those federal dollars though.
