Otherwise, I felt the city neighborhoods were pretty bland.

Would you by chance be referring to Broad Ripple?

Yes, thanks!! http://www.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smack.gif
Bridal Veil didn't sound right--and would make a pretty bizarre name for a trendy district

Broad Ripple is occasionally referred to as Indianapolis's version of Greenwich Village, even though it doesn't even come close. I think it's simply because the area is artsy, trendy, etc., compared to the rest of the city.
Is there any area in Minneapolis or St. Paul that has this feel to it?

Uptown and Lyn-Lake would be the first areas I'd suggest, followed by NE Mpls (13th Ave & University), Dinkytown, and Selby Ave (near Western) in St Paul

Does one of the TCs have more of a "hip" or artsy vibe to it than the other, or is asking that opening a can-o-worms?
