I didn't know this would be such a difficult question. White Bear Lake is a small town in the metro area of Minneapolis/St.Paul. Has anyone even been there?

I lived there for 6 months and now live near there. It seems to be a very independant city with a lot of community pride. Many people have white bears in the yard, stickers on the cars etc. Historically, it was a very seperate entity from St. Paul with visions of being a large city. The city grew by a number of annexations, some of these attempts failed such as Gem Lake which incorprated in the 50s. Part of the surrounding area is still unincorporated and is called White Bear Township. There is a downtown area on the Northwest shore of the lake that is vibrant. Overall it has a semi rural feel. I enjoyed the short time we lived there.

I've driven through it, but it's way on the opposite side of the metro from the various areas that I spent my time in.

WBL is a wonderful northern suburb with a small town feel... it has lots of little shops in the downtown area, and it does a farmers market in the summer, that lasts into the fall. There are very good schools, and not much crime. Your average house is a little rambler, or a small 2 level, from about 150K to 225K for a house that is quite decent...some even have large yards too! I have lived in the WBL area for 10 years, so if you have any questions just PM me.

Maybe if you asked a little more specific questions you would get more responses.

Well I wanted it to be simple enough for everyone. I asked how it was. What would you have liked me to ask? Oh well.
