I need a ride to Winona, WI from Rochester MN
Hi everybody!
My roommate and I are planning on kayaking the whole Mississippi River in the beginning of May through the end of July. We will be starting in Winona, Wisconsin, but the problem we are facing is that the closest airport is in Rochester, Minnesota. Therefore we will need a ride getting to Winona from Rochester. If anyone can help us begin our adventure of a life time, please contact me either by email Teowen@eagle.fgcu.edu or by phone (239) 821-7568
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and we will most certainty cover any expenses it may cost for you to do us this favor. Thanks again, and I look forward to talking to you and giving you additional details.

Don't you have any friends?
If you're kayaking the entire Mississippi River, I would think that you could be a little more concerned on issues of greater importance, like navigation, water levels, stopping/rest points. River traffic. Locks, damns, and bridges. Food, first aid, communications. Water. Sun block.
Just an thought.

How could you possibly make the assumption that they haven't considered navigation, water levels, stopping/rest points, river traffic, locks, dams, bridges, food, first aid, communications, water, sun block just because they asked for a ride from Rochester to Winona. Are you serious?
Are you people for real? Either you can offer them a ride or you can't. That's all they asked for.

I am very serious. If I were planning such a trip, the first and foremost issue of transportation back would not be of concern, and certainly not to the extent of having to ask for a ride on a public forum.
That's all I'm saying.

My thoughts exactly! As if they didn't do their research, right?
If I were able, I think it would be fun to give them a ride. Best of luck to the kayakers - have a fun and safe trip.

Hey thanks for your help and support. Believe me we are preparing extensively, despite the fact that I made the mistake of saying Winona was in Wisconsin. we train in my roomates dads kayaks, have factored the cost of most of the equipment, have contacts throughout the river, and know what risks are involved. We are well aware of the needs of communication, water, first aid, sun-block, river traffic, water levels, etc. plus much much more. We will be prepared, and will do this trip even if it kills us. Thanks again!

I have just a simple question: why are you starting in Winona?
You could start up at Itasca at the headwaters of the Mississippi; or in Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Brainerd, Little Falls, or St. Cloud or the Twin Cities and see some beautiful Minnesota countryside much different than you will see elsewhere along the River. Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Brainerd, St. Cloud, and the Twin Cities all have commercial airports not far from the river, so you wouldn't have to hitch a ride some 45-50 miles.
Don't get me wrong, Winona is a pretty town; but you will only be seeing about 50 miles of the Mississippi River in MN and missing so much of the beauty of our river and state.
