I was hit once two years ago at the intersection of 38th and Bryant by a woman who ran a stop sign- on her phone. Since I slammed on my brakes she just tapped my front tire and flipped me over, so no serious damage.

Anyone else ever been hit?

Thankfully I've never been hit, but I only started commuting last summer and have a few rides under my belt this spring.

To pose another question, which bike shop(s) do you all like? I got my last bike from Erik's a number of years ago. I just got a new (used) road bike from the Express Bike Shop around Selby and Lexington. They carry mostly all refurbished bikes and a mix of new/used parts. They also have business and mechanic programs for youth in the area. There's a similar place called Sibley Bike Depot on University, but I didn't get as friendly of a vibe at that shop.

Generally Minneapolis drivers are some of the most courteous in the country and we have an extensive system of trails if you want to stay out of traffic all together.

Grand Performance is a good repair shop!

Is anyone planning on riding the Ironman this year - I hear the longer routes have changed.

I am planning on doing the 100 mile Ironman. Do you know what the changes are?

Not sure of the exact route - just hope the weather is decent!

We usually ride 62 miles, depending on the conditions.

You never know in Minnesota - last weekend it was great riding weather - this coming weekend looks like back to winter! I've riden Ironmans that were 70 degrees and sunny, also snow, rain, and very windy - guess thats why they call it the Ironman!
