When I read the title of this thread, I was like, YOU ARE PREACHING TO THE CHOIR!!! ... I am originally from Madison, WI, and even though the metro size there is much smaller, we FLOORED it when the light turned green, and were going 75 plus on the freeways, weather permitting. Milwaukee included! My father taught me how to drive, and that whole side of my family is from the greater Chicagoland area, known for its obnoxious drivers. However last night, I was going out with my friends, coming from Bloomington, going up 35W, and seriously, people were ho-humming around going 40 miles an hour (AFTER the construction that ends at the Lake St. exit)... I was like, MOOOOOOOOOOVEE!!!! ... Literally screaming, haha. Of course, I was with a friend from Chicago. We were both saying how if this were happening in Chicago, those cars would be stomped on. I know. I feel your pain. It's ridiculous.

Actually from my experience in madison is that they are also very slow and passive drivers, I think you were the exception in madison b/c your father is from Chicago.

Not to claim it's not true... but you've never seen bad until you've driven in Omaha. Sure, it's less congested, but that only means people have less of an excuse to drive slow. The worst is the local 2 lane divided county road... People will drive 5 under right next to each other for miles. Yuck. Give me Minneapolis any day!

I would like to reaffirm my findings that Minn and Twin Cities traffic drives very slow. I was just up in the TC and I was doing only 10 over and I passed everyone and when I was doing 15 over I felt like I was doing a 100. Nothing against the people of Minn but it seems like majority of the people in Minn and the TC drive really slow. Is this b/c the cops are very strict up their? I didn't see one cop on the freeway the whole time I was up their this past weekend.

Is it something to be pround of that you are over the speed limit? If you are not in a hurry, why do you have to speed? Yes there are cops and they are more strict now ever since the economy went bad, but I never saw any need to speed. Most of the roads are in a bad condition here and driving faster means louder noise and more possibility of an accident, especially during the winter. In the midwest, sticking to the speed limit is not a bad idea. You are acting like a rube who thinks anything happening in Chicago is like the way to go.

Agree. Many highway interconnections actually are on the left side of the road. I don't think those are supposed to be the fast lane because well, traffic usually get slow when you get to an intersection.

I've never seen a sign that's said, "faster traffic keep left". Only one that says "slower traffic keep right." It's for trailers, slow pokes, doughnut spares, and tractors... when allowed.

You are quite naive. One of these times if you keep pulling this kind of stunt in the Twin Cities, someone may pull a gun out. Don't mess with people on the road period. You never know the state of the mind of the next person.

Get over yourself and let the "slow drivers" be.
