I understand that some landlords require two months notice while others require one month. Anyone have any idea of what is more common? Anyone have any suggestions about what I should do? I'm really hesitant to come down August 1st because I don't want to compete with all the other students looking for housing...
You have it alot harder. I think 1 month is more common, but I couldn't be sure. If you are planning to wait until Sept. 1, you are going to be competing with every Tom, Dick and Harry trying to find housing. The earlier you visit, the better.

I've decided to visit the first Monday after August 1st in order to find something for Sept. I'll set up appointments before then. Hopefully I will find something! Honestly, I know it would be easier/less nerve wracking to move in August 1st, but I don't have the luxury of forking over the extra $...
