Any Good Apartment suggestions in St. Louis Park?
I am moving from California and recently accepted a job in Downtown Minneapolis and lot of people in this forum and outside suggested St. Louis Park for us to move to...
-- I am looking for a fairly new apartment complex with attached parking.
-- In a good and safe neighborhood.
-- 2Br Rent in the range of $800 - $1200
-- Ez commute to downtown (I will use my car).
-- good amenities ( Like in Apt Washer/Drier) or at least good laundry facilities since we have an infant and use them a lot.
--Groceries and stores in reasonable distance.
Any valuable suggestions are really appreciated and it will save me a lot of effort since it is very hard to search for apartments from california and my obligations are not allowing me to go to mpls physically ahead of time to search in person.
Thanks in Advance

Here's a few suggestions:
Excelsior & Grand: a mixed-use development with condos, apartments and retail (including a Trader Joe's). It's on the bus line, plus close to the biking trail to the Lakes District. Target is also nearby.
Hoiggard Village and the Camaratta: located on the west side of Hwy 100 at 36th Street: close to Target and the bike trail
There are also a few apt complexes along Highway 7 west of Wooddale (Louisiana Oaks is one).

Excelsior & grand may not be in the price range you originally considered, especially not for a 2 bedroom. (it's a rather classy complex with anything you could want or need, two stories below you) Also, it's kind of borderline uptown minneapolis, and extremely close to edina as well. I live in hopkins, which is commonly confused for many parts of st louis park. I'll be honest, I'm not quite sure why people suggested this location to you, although there are definitely worse neighborhoods to choose. (although there are definitely better ones as well) If you're working downtown, you probably want to be as close to 394 as possible, as that's the quickest route downtown from st louis park. hwy 169/394 will be your new best friends. There are apartments in the heart of st louis park, which are easily in your price range although the neighborhoods aren't as great as you may be hoping. If you tell us a couple places you are considering, I could do a quick google search and most likely recognize them, and let you in on a couple ideas of whether or not it may be worth it to you. Otherwise, best of luck...
Enjoy our winters.

What?
Excelsior & Grand is neither borderline Uptown geographically nor neighborhood feel wise.

Well for starters, it's literally two minutes away from lake calhoun/lake street, and feels nothing like the rest of st louis park. (I actually live in this area, trust me) It's far nicer, and looks like no other apartments available in that zipcode. (There are no apartments in st louis park with numerous businesses directly under them) which gives it the "neighborhood feeling" of uptown as well.
Not to mention, he's looking for a 2 bedroom in the range of 800-1200, which if you were to look at excelsior and grand rentals, the cheapest 2 bedroom available is 1470/month which makes this place out of the question to begin with (which I said previously)
Anything else?

I've spent time in both places, and while it doesn't feel like the rest of SLP, it does NOT feel like Uptown at all.
Also, there's no way you can legally make it from Excelsior & Grand to the northeast corner of Calhoun in "literally two minutes".

Some people just like to argue I guess. Considering I never said it was 2 minutes to the north east corner (who cares what corner of the lake? You pick the furthest, lol) I've mapquested it, and my bad. It takes three minutes. To get from excelsior and grand, to the street that allows you onto calhoun (the one near chipotle, since you're so well aware of the area)
Heres your proof.

Hit a bunch of green lights, and go 5-10 over the limit (like everyone does anyways) and that's a two minute trip.
I take that route probably 3-4 times a week during the spring/summer/fall... so, it's a safe assumption to think I actually do have a clue what I'm talking about.
As for lake street, add another two-three minutes to your trip, and there ya go. We done arguing over ridiculous crap yet?

MeadowBrooke LoL. Definitely in your price range, as long as you don't mind getting robbed every now and then. (sorry, but feel free to google this place - I've known several people to live there for six months or so, but none dumb enough to stay around any longer)
There's a million different apartments, townhomes, etc all over st louis park. You'd have to name them for me to figure out the good/bad side, and recognize the location. Many nice places, many bad places... most of which are right next to each other anyways - that's just kinda how st louis park works. Stay away from Blake road if you want any solid advice. Anything further east on Highway 7 is generally nicer than the places that surround knollwood mall.
