Local Stimulus Package Development/ Redevelopment Projects
Just wanted to start a thread where people can post what they know about any local stimulus $$ hitting their neighborhoods for development or redevelopment projects (e.g. housing, roads/ bridges, parks, or other community development/ infrastructure projects).
I've heard that a substantial stream of funds are being allocated to Victory Memorial Drive/Parkway- I believe it's to replace all bike/ walk paths, trees decimated by Dutch Elm's over the years, as well as create monuments of some sort that designate the historical significance of the Drive at its two entrances (intersection of Humboldt Ave N/ Webber Parkway/ Memorial Dr on the north, and intersection of Lowry Ave N/ Memorial Drive/ Theo Wirth Pkwy on the south). I believe the state is allocating separate non-stimulus package monies at some point to replacing/ upgrading all of the lighting on the parkway as well. Rather than building two multimillion dollar static monuments, I would have like to have seen a local WWI Museum/ History Center built and co-located at the same site where the new $15M Webber Library is going to be built (Humboldt/ 44th Aves N- former Kowalski's site)- this site is actually right at the NE entrance of Victory Memorial Parkway so would be a perfect place to introduce the parkway to visitors and create a local area destination- there would probably even be room build out a community "victory garden".
Any other local projects that anyone has heard about or seen (either known or suggested projects)?

We have some road improvement projects in the works because of the stimulus package, nothing too exciting though just some resurfacing and adding different or new stop lights.

Too bad the light rail project didn't get stimulus package because it is not ready to start construction.

The new highway 610 north of the metro, the new Lowry Ave Bridge, the new 169 & 494 interchange, the new 35w & 494 interchange, new sewers under 28th street in MPLS, more hybrid busses for Metro Transit, new American Blvd LRT station in Bloomington, more trains for Northstar.
Those are all the local stimulus projects I know of.

Do you know if they are adding a 3rd stop around the MOA with the Am Blvd stop or are they closing one of the existing stops? Is it going right on the corner of Am Blvd and 34th?

They're adding one; none are closing. I don't know exactly where it is, but it's going to be in between two of the current Bloomington stops somewhere.
