Default The Lakes of Blaine - thoughts?

In our relocation search for a neighborhood close to Maple Grove and still affordable with lots of amenities, we stumbled onto The Lakes of Blaine in Blaine, MN. Does anyone know anything about this area? Is it as fabulous as it looks on-line with all sorts of shops, beaches, playgrounds, lakes and walking trails or is it another development struggling toward completion with declining values and empty lots? Any thoughts, advice, experience there? Thanks!!!

We love living in The Lakes. There are lots of great parks, trails, fishing, kayaking, and more. There are lots of young families with small children. The public beach is going to be started this summer (check out startribune.com search for blaine beach). There are several open lots however, the finished lots tend to be together, so if you can chose a finished or almost finished sub-development. The market prices have fallen. However, I don't believe it is any worse than other developments. There are several businesses within a few miles of The Lakes: Super Target, Cub Foods, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Home Depot, and lots more. There is a dry cleaner, gas station, liquor store, fitness center and restaurant within walking distance if you live on the north-west side of the development. There is supposed to be more coming, but that has been slowed with the market.
