Default Game: Which celebrity would the Twin Cities be?

I kinda got inspired by the thread in the General US Forum which asked what kind of personality would a city have if it was a real person. This time I am gonna make it more locally specific by asking which celebrity would the Twin Cities be? In order to do this, why don't we match the characteristics of a city and compare them with a certain celebrity who you think kinda captures the personality of the Twin Cities.

Anyways, I would liken Minneapolis-St. Paul to Emma Watson (Hermoine of Harry Potter to the not-so-aware).

Why? The Cities are aesthetically pleasing in a subtle manner as well as very clean and green. The same can be said of Emma Watson herself.

To add to that, the region has a strong intellectual and artistic undercurrent in its culture - Emma Watson is both artistic (she also loves to paint, sing, dance and stuff other than just acting) and quite intellectual (she still WANTS to study in Uni despite having a multimillion dollar acting/showbiz career).

Plus its also known for good shopping, even though its not as very, very high end compared to NYC or LA - Emma loves to shop and stuff though her sense of fashion is NOT super-duper flashy (or whatever word synonym matches that).

Its population is fairly sporty and outdoorsy as well with the SECOND slimmest urban population in the US after Colorado Springs. Emma herself is known to be quite a sporty person - if you visit her website, there is a long list of sports Emma enjoys.

The Cities are also quite modest in profile (not wanting to brag too much about their acheivements and the like) to keep the riff-raff away. Emma herself is known for her sense of modesty and is very determined to maintain her sense of privacy - hence her rather vague approach when she's asked about her personal life and the like

Other than that, people know the Twin Cities exists but not many people know what its all about and what's good about it in the first place, except for those who've actually gone there. Same goes for Emma - people have heard about her but other than the fact that she's Hermoine in Harry Potter, nothing much is really known amongst the general public about her, unless they're fans of hers or the Harry Potter series.

To cap this off while Minneapolis (the more famous of the Twins) is a fairly polished, modern, liberal, white-collar place, St. Paul is a bit more old-fashioned and blue collar in style and content. Yes Emma is pretty known for being fairly polished and MAYBE posh, but I'm sure she has a rougher side that she herself doesn't exactly reveal to just about anyone, let alone the public. Besides while Emma seems to be open-minded and definitely embodies what it means to be a modern girl in her country the UK, she still manages to maintain some form of traditional values (closeness to her family, etc)..

What do you guys think of my assessment? If you agree say so and why or if you don't suggest another name and state your reasons based on the manner I did.

Hope you like this thread. Now let the discussions begin!

Ha! Fun question.

My answer is George Clooney (Minneapolis) and Rosemary Clooney (St. Paul).

I think it would be nice to pick a pair of celebrities that embody the relationship between the two cities, rather than picking one celebrity to stand for both of them. Minneapolis is a younger city in the sense that it has a more active night life and bar scene, and St. Paul is the older city because it has more charm and grace.

George Clooney is a good fit for Minneapolis because he is:
- attractive
- politically liberal
- likes to party- alcohol, drugs, women.
- good sense of style
- kind of rugged looking (and Minneapolis is, you know, cold. Yes, this one is a stretch).

Rosemary Clooney is a good fit for St. Paul because she is:
- Beautiful
- Less well known these days, but still a celebrity in her own right
- Graceful and classy.
- A Jazz vocalist

One thing I think about when I think about St. Paul is the dancing scene, and I love to dance to Rosemary Clooney. She has a beautiful voice. Rosemary Clooney is George Clooney's aunt, so they are related. The only problem with this pair for the twin cities is that they are southern. People may not think of them as "southern" celebrities, but their family is from Kentucky and I think that is important.

Very interesting thread. I like your thinking.

I was going to say something like a George Clooney...

Some type of celeb that is internationally known and nationally known, artistic, cosmo, clean, family oriented, with a wild side.... and gets overshadowed by the likes of Chicago, LA and NYC>

Susan Sarandon. Period.

- Pretty in a very girl-next-door way
- A little bit old fashioned, and with a bit of that naive, woodsy aura
- Conservative (I don't mean politically), reserved... definitely not a "loud" personality
- Some other stuff
