St. Paul surpasses Minneapolis in Homicides
2009 totals:
St. Paul = 5
Minneapolis = 4
The latest:
9 arrested in fatal street fight near St. Paul bar
This is of interest because I've been tracking crime data of the two cities for several years and I've never seen St. Paul ahead of Minneapolis in homicides...historically it has about half of Minneapolis's total. Crime in Minneapolis is WAY down for the second straight year and I think this is a prime example of how drastically things have changed in a very short time.

Thank you for pointing out crime in Minneapolis is way down, versus crime in St. Paul being way up.

Good news overall, but still wonder...
9 homicides by the middle of May between the two cities seems unheard of. This is good, but I cant help but wonder if they are just hiding the bodies in the vacants in Minneapolis.

You got to keep the devil way down in the hole! (and I think there's a pretty slim chance that could be happening).

That is weird. I know that it isn't a good thing either.

Also, it was just confirmed that the cyclist who was murdered in South Minneapolis last summer was a result of a robbery after a drug deal. This just goes to show that random killings hardly ever happen. As long as you aren't involved with gangs, drugs, prostitution, or other illegal doings you should have very little to worry about when walking the streets of Minneapolis.
