Default What's With Traffic?

Hey everyone, just wondering if someone could answer a simple question for me.

I live on the western side of Eagan, just off 77. Whenever the weather warms up (April-October?), the traffic on Cedar, and 494 (both directions) between the airport exits and EP seems to be MUCH heavier. Why is this? I had a few speculations, perhaps they're right, perhaps its a combination of things.. But I'm just curious.

1) A lot of people back from living in southern states for the summer?
2) Nicer weather, so more people are out?

I guess the reason why I'm curious is because I haven't noticed the drastic change in traffic flow based on seasons, so I was just wondering!

Thanks!

What time of day do you travel? Could it be that more people are cutting out of work earlier to enjoy the nicer weather now that the long winter is over?

Road Construction--the other day one lane on 494 was closed in both directions backing up traffic. I don't know that traffic was heavier, just condensed.

Ahh yes road construction - I'm finding more and more that MSP is a lot like Illinois. Two seasons - Winter, and construction :-p hee hee.

I think there is more traffic from spring to fall, due to a lot of seasonal laborers--construction, landscapers, etc. People that usually don't work during the winter. I noticed traffic was absolutely non-existent from February until about mid April, and I figured, wow, a lot of people must be laid off. Then the weather got nicer, and of course, there is a godawful amount of road construction that is going on now. Got to alter those working hours.
