Default Help finding farmer-style/homegrown meat, pies, and veggies :)

Greetings! I am relatively new to Minnesota and grew up in Wisconsin. In the far western burbs of Milwaukee, there is a great family owned deli/restaurant/bakery of sorts (not sure what to call it) called The Elegant Farmer. They have the most amazing meats, cheeses, fruits & veggies, and most of all - fresh baked apple pies. It is reasonable to assume that a place like this exists in the Twin Cities area? I'm not talking about a fresh fruit stand which is only available at certain times of the year. This place is open year-round and is absolutely amazing! Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Off hand I can't think of a place that would have all of that in one shop. There are plenty of great meat markets around the area, most of the apple orchards have pies in the fall. Maybe you might want to suggest a franchise to the owners of the Milwaukee place. It sounds great!

If you're anywhere near the area, I would suggest famliarizing yourself with and/or making a trip to Robbinsdale's downtown. Although it doesn't have a "one-stop" shop like you're looking for, you could go to Hackenmueller's Meats and then walk (less than a block away) down to Wuollet Bakery. Both businesses are high-quality, have great selection, are family-owned, and have been around for many decades (definitely get that "small-town feel" when you're in them/ Robbinsdale's downtown). This would definitely take care of your amazing meats/ pastries/ apple pie cravings in a quick-stop year round- as to the fresh fruits/ veggies, not far away the Victory Neighborhood has a farmer's market in the summers (44th Ave N/ Osseo Road) on Thursday evenings, and I believe New Hope has one on Saturdays. Good luck-

I know you said year round (which all of these are not) but I think it's worth mentioning farmers' markets which are all around the state, many in the Twin Cities. They can make for a pretty fun outing. More info available from the Dept. of Agriculture and MN Farmers' Market Association.

I think the Minneapolis Farmer's Market may have most of what you want if you go on a weekend. It has a lot of veggie plant stands but it every day but on weekends it has some meats, cheese as well as things like nuts and honey. Not sure you'll find your apple pie there but perhaps!

I'll check it out. This place in Wisconsin rocks - very high quality, home grown food! The pies were actually featured on that Bobby Flay show "Throwdown" where he had to bake a pie against The Elegant Farmer's. If I recall correctly, Bobby got schooled
