Hi. We are new to the MPLS area (less than a month)..and are enjoying the beautiful weather, lakes, etc. We live in Uptown, but for the right Dim Sum would drive anywhere. Any recommendations? We tried Mandarin Kitchen, but were hoping there were other options.

Also, does anyone send their children to Chinese Language school? We are looking for the type that is not the fast track for kids that grew up with both parents speaking since birth.

Thanks!

Hopkins school district has a Chinese immersion school, and believe it, Mandarin Kitchen has probably the best dim sum between Chicago and Seattle.

According to City Pages the best Dim Sum in the area is Jun Bo in Richfield.

Minneapolis - Best Of Minneapolis - Minneapolis BEST DIM SUM - Jun Bo (2008)

I've never been there but I've been very curious about it. After all, it may be the only Chinese Restaurant + Latin dance antro in the world.

Default Dim Sum

Hi. I will go try Jun Bo.

For the Chinese School, we are happy with our current school, just wanted something on Sundays. Where we came from some of the churches had classes on Sundays... I thought that the St. Paul programs were on Saturdays, and the one I checked out in Eden Prarie was too far and for kids that were already fluent.

Thanks.

Mandarin Kitchen has better dim sum than Jun Bo. With Jun Bo, you find that the dim sum has been sitting around whereas with Mandarin Kitchen, there is more turnover. That said, there's a reason why there's an hour wait a Mandarin Kitchen on Sunday mornings.
