Yeah, if I remember right the toxic ratio of Marijuana is 400 to 1 or something like that, so you theoretically could die if you instantaneously consumed like 10 lbs....of course that would be impossible though. But yeah, Cigarettes and Alcohol are far more dangerous than herb. I'd go further and say that Red Bull is more dangerous.

Default gross!

I wouldn't touch a red bull if my life depended on it! I wonder how many people die a year from eating too much McDonalds, KFC, and what not...all that crap is legal, and targeted towards kids!!

Legal aspects aside, perception of the "herb culture" depends on your crowd. If you live in Uptown or an area with a university (i.e., areas with 20-somethings), you'll find many like-minded people. However, my sense is that most people around here (and throughout the Midwest) frown upon pot smoking beyond a certain age because it is viewed as a party drug. From my experiences, I think that most people see weed as something that you might try or party with when you're younger, but that it's something that you give up when you "grow up" (e.g., have a career and kids), even if you only partake on your days off. Not saying that's right or wrong, but that seems to be the culture around me where I live and where I work.

I think that sums it up pretty well. My friends (20 somethings) have no beefs with pot at all, but I know people who do. That said I know people 35+ with kids that still smoke. They live around the metro from Minneapolis/Richfield out to Lakeville and Minnetonka. Outside of the young/college areas I think you just kind of have to feel people out.

You asked so I will give you my opinion. If you told me that you did this I would not say anything to you about it because it really is not my business. However, if I knew you did this I would never let my child play at your house because I would not feel it is a safe place for him to be. JMO. I do not want my child exposed to that kind of lifestyle.

As an aside, you say you do this while your child is at daycare? Do you take an entire day off work every week to smoke weed? And how does your son get home from daycare?

Well, thanks for the honesty! Uh, no we don't take a day off to 'smoke weed". Just like people who have a beer on their day off don't "take the day off to drink beer".

We like most have 2 days off a week. It's not set in stone, like we MUST SMOKE WEED ON THE DAY OFF, but we like to. It's not uncommon here for many people to do so. California has very loose attitudes about it. They don't see it as a demonized drug, just a plant.

Interesting that once a week means a whole "lifestyle"...lol, kinda funny. My kids daycare starts at 7 am and ends at 6pm. I'm getting the feeling you aren't so familiar with weed, but it isn't like alcohol where if you are drunk you are drunk for 6-7 hours and still are messed up the next day. It's gone in 2-3 hours, and then you are like new. You can see fine, think fine, walk fine, drive fine, speak fine, ect. That's the nice thing about it. It isn't as intense or damaging as alcohol. Plus, one joint between two of us does not make us messed up for hours.

I would never ever ever go pick up my kid under the influence, and am very careful about that. His daycare is two blocks away, if there were ever any sort of doubt, I'd walk. I would NEVER have a drink earlier in the day and then pick him up. THAT is dangerous.

Also, I don't leave pipes, or bags or have big pot leaf posters up in the house! If you kid, or any kid came over, OF COURSE there would be none of that. I would never do that. Not everyone who smokes is a hippie with dreads and Bob Marley posters up! Some of us look and act just like you. Would you let your kid go over some ones house who drank? Who's had a DUI? Divorce? Just curious.

I have a feeling that your image of MJ users is from movies, or super hippies that you see around. Yes, when done too much, like anything, you do develop an affect, it does become your lifestyle, and it IS dangerous and harmful to yourself and others. But so is over eating. So is drinking too much. So is watching too much T.V.

So even if were are hard working, kind, friendly, educated individuals who do charity, and all sorts of things in the community, you'd still fear your kid coming over? Is there an idea that anyone who enjoys MJ, something your not into, is a druggie with a "lifestyle" that is negative? There's no gray area? There is no such thing as responsible MJ use in your opinion? What if it became completely legal, would that change your mind?

You said my house would not be safe, yet you know nothing about it. Just the MJ, so obviously, this is very scary and everyone who uses it, is a druggie with a druggie lifestyle? Even if you saw my safe, clean, kid friendly house and my happy smart educated friendly child, you'd still be completely fearful, b/c I like to smoke on my day off?

You'd discount all the good for that? That's really really sad, but I do appreciate your honesty, so thank you for that
