There are only about 6 murders so far. If this trend continues, Minneapolis might have the nation's lowest murder rate.

You say that like your surprised. Minneapolis is the center of a large, metropolitan area. It is inherently more dangerous than Vermont.

I guess I wasn't expecting the MPLS crime index to be well over twice as high as the national average. I personally view MPLS similar to the following cities:

Boston 524
Seattle 470
Denver 409
Omaha 428
Indy 702
MPLS 791

The nations average crime index is 320.

Saying all of this, a massive drop in murders is a great thing. So my question was, since murders have been reduced by 8x, I'd hope that the rest of the crimes has also dropped. I was asking if anyone else knew how other crime was taking shape like rapes, burglaries, thefts etc. If no other crime categories have dropped, then I would take a wait-and-see attitude even on the murders as it could be a fluke. If they all dropped, then this article link tells me that all the police need a raise for their incredible work!

Crime has nothing to do with being a global city. Minneapolis should be proud to have less homicide. But that really doesn't prove anything about being a global city and why would someone bash Chicago for it. This is narrow-mindedness.

Chicago is 10 X the size of Minneapolis.
Chicago has 34 X the homicides.

As far as Chicago being the "King/Capital of the Midwest", that statement would be an opinion since there is no data to support the contention. Not that there is such a thing anyways.

This is an analogy...
