What is the most conservative (politically) city west of Minneapolis
I minneapolis is very liberal as a whole, but surely there are some conservative cities.
Thanks in advance.
Please answer without being sarcastic as I know politics brings out the worst in everyone.

The 1st and 2nd ring suburbs used to be conservative but they have been moving more liberal recently. For a solid conservative suburb you need to look to the 3rd ring suburbs. From experience, West Metro is more economically conservative, socially liberal while the north metro is more socially conservative. Hope that helps.

Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Maple Grove, and Shakopee are very conservative. Minnetonkas voting record leans that way, but in my experience its probably 50/50 at this point, and starting to lean more towards liberal. Wayzata is more liberal, and Plymouth and Excelsior are probably 50/50. Most places east of 494 are pretty liberal.

The east/north metro is more conservative. I believe White Bear is something like 75/25 Republican.

Michele Bachmann represents many of the northern suburbs and she's about as conservative as you can get. Although many conservatives I know regard her as more crazy than conservative.

Chaska, Minnetonka, Chanhassen, Waconia and a lot of the smaller towns in between are still a conservative stronghold (thank goodness). Carver County almost always goes red in elections.

Not sure why this is an issue. You plan to spend a lot of time talking politics with your neighbors?

What is the definition of ring suburbs and how is one first, second, third etc? Is it their proximity to a freeway?
We live in Rosemount. What ring is that?

Freeways have nothing to do with it. The "rings" represent the layers of suburbs beyond the central cities. Rosemont would be 3rd ring after WSP (first ring) and IGH (second ring).
