Default Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota

We are planning to do an exploratory visit to the Twin Cities in mid-August. We may decide to move to Minnesota. Do I need to worry about mosquitoes or bees during my visit? Should I buy a mosquito spray or need to wear a anti-mosquito fan around my waist? Please advise and thanks.

You certainly don't need a mosquito fan and as for bug spray, maybe. It depends on if you are going to be out at dusk in areas where there will be heavy concentrations of mosquitoes. If the summer continues as it has you won't see any mosquitoes at all when you are here. It has been so dry they are not really around. I have yet to be bitten by a mosquito this summer. Walking around during the day you won't need anything. Wait until you get here and see what they are like.

I would strongly advise that you get an anti-mosquito fan (maybe one for a spare as well). This model works well for me.

The anti-mosquito fan is very effective in repelling mosquitos but it will do little to protect you from bees. I recommend a combination of the mosquito fan and wearing a bee keeper's suit much like the one in this picture:

Didn't you already ask about mosquitos and bees in Minnesota? I could have sworn that you did and that you got a lot of responses.
