Default Hospitals on West side of Mnpls

Which hospitals are the best ones to work for in the Mnpls area? We will be living on the west part of town around Wayzata and Maple Grove, possibly Eden Prairie. Looking for strong, well run hospitals with state of the art technology, ICU and ER mainly. Are there different for profit and non profit, and why do you like them? Strengths and weaknesses, please!!

Maple Grove is in the process of building a state-of-the art hospital. Southdale is a good hospital too.

Also add Methodist in St. Louis Pk. and North Memorial, a level 1 trauma where Broadway comes out of the city. Southdale is in a good loc. for commuting. NIce new heart center. There isn't much between the inner suburbs and Carver Co. I can't comment on any partic. hosp.

Minnesota law doesn't allow for profit hospitals; so you don't have to worry about how that affects care here.

Methodist is a nice-sized suburban hospital with a reputation for treating eating disorders, sleep disorders and complex neuro problems such as strokes and Parkinsons disease. North Memorial is a Level I trauma center and is well-known for its' micro-surgical reattachment of traumatic amputations. Fairview Southdale is the first Level III trauma center in the Twin Cities and is a Nationally Certified Stroke Center which also has a brand new heart center.

Farther into Minneapolis but still not an impossible commute are 3 more hospitals to consider: Hennepin County Medical Center is nationally known in four top categories: digestive disorders; endocrinology; kidney disease; and respiratory disorders. Abbott Northwestern Hospital is consistently rated in the U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" top 50 nation-side hospitals for neuro, cardiac, and orthopedic care. Minneapolis Childrens' Hospital is the west-metro childrens hospital specializing in pediatrics here. Fairview Riverside is also a bit farther east in Mpls; but the farther into the Cities you go; the worse the traffic during rush hour.

Only hospitals I'm familiar with are North Memorial in Robinsdale and Mercy in Coon Rapids. Both seem to be good hospitals.
