Is the University of Saint Thomas a good school?
Is it better than UMN? I will study there, I hope I won't regret.
By the way, I heared that the girls in UST are more beautiful than UMN, is that true?

The answers are going to depend on who you ask, as well as what your own personal goals are. I went to the U, my husband went to St. Thomas, and I can say that for me, the U of MN was a far better school and had far more cachet in my field than St. Thomas. For others St. Thomas might be a better fit. It all depends on what you're studying and what you want out of a school, not to mention other factors like financial aid, etc. St. Thomas is a solid school and has a decent reputation. So does the U.

Thanks for your replying. Actually, I am a little bit disappointed because when I told my friends I would study in UST, they always asked me where it is

I don't know where you're coming from, but in general I think most people, or at least many people, in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest will have heard of it. It doesn't have as much name recognition outside of the region, but it's a big school and has a lot of alumni network opportunities. My UST relatives haven't really taken advantage of that network, but I think it's probably pretty useful in some fields. In any case, best of luck, and enjoy your time at St. Thomas. My Tommie friends and family enjoyed their time there.

Very Nice school. Cake Eaters though, and most kids that i have met from there are tools, but that's what you get for babied rich kids... nothing personal, just kind of arrogant and full of themselves

When I went to college from 2000-2004 the women at St. Thomas were a notch above the U of M and approximately 80 notches above the College of Saint Benedict (sorry for throwing you gals under the bus, but it was true.) In the last few years I've spent a decent amount of time at St. Thomas and I'm convinced that CSB and STU have flipflopped. If anybody has also noticed this I'd love to get some feedback. Also, I concur with knke0204 that St. Thomas is for the most part a school for rich uppity white kids. The same goes for St. John's University. This aside, both are excellent schools from an academic standpoint and both have very impressive campuses. However, If I had to do it over again I'd choose the U of M just for prestige, name recognition, the larger number of available programs, the location, and higher level of diversity. Once again, that isn't to say that you won't get an EXCELLENT education at St. Thomas.

SJU is much more middle class student than UST. SJU has lots of Central MN farm kids. I probaly know hundreds of Johnnies and only a few of them came from money.

I agree, the vast majority of CSB/SJU students are middle class, down to earth kids.
