Default 2 for $20 Restaurants in Minneapolis

Hey I wanted to get a list of recommended inexpensive restaurants in Minneapolis.

Here are the requirements:
1) Must be within the city limits (MLPS)
2) Must NOT be a chain
3) Can be had for the cheap (between $20-$30 for 2 people)

Does it have to be a sitdown restaurant or would this include take-out? Any type of food or are you looking for certain ethnicities or styles? Is this for dinner, lunch or breakfast?

It can be either sit-down or take out, just not a fast food chain. Any and all ethnicities. Any meal - leaning towards dinner as most places that serve up breakfast can be had for $20.

Most places around the Univ. of Minn. and along Eat Street (Nicollet between 13th and Lake) are pretty cheap. Honestly, though, I bet about half the restaurants in Mpls. fit that description.

Agreed, I could think of about 20 off the top of my head. There are more cheap restaurants than expensive ones in Minneapolis.

I guess I was looking for a "best of" listing...

Like in your opinion, what is the best place you and a companion can go for dinner and only spend around $20?

Broder's Pasta Bar has a 2 for $28 after 8pm which includes wine. Punch Pizza is good for a quicker bite.

Tin Fish at Lake Harriet and Sea Salt at Minnehaha Falls are low-priced and are great on a nice night.

I'm sure there are a ton more...just thought I'd get the list started.

Fat Lorenzo's for Italian fare, and 58 club has wonderful burger baskets. Both are neighborhood institutions going back several decades.

This is a great resource, just search for restaurants in the "$" range and pick the neighborhood where you want to eat:

Minneapolis Restaurants and Reviews - Minneapolis Dining Guide - MN Restaurants

The best combination of cheap + good we've been able to find in Minneapolis so far is Quang on 28th and Nicollet, Vietnamese food. Honorable mention would go to an Ethiopian restaurant we just discovered in Cedar Riverside called Red Sea. They have insanely cheap drinks too, enjoy your sub $10 meal with a $2.50 bottle of Guinness, Becks, Heinekin, Summit or Red Stripe, highly recommended.

Another place to check out is the Midtown Global Market. You should be able to eat for two in pretty much any booth there for $20 and the two closed off sit down restaurants/bars are cheap and solid as well. One is Mexican food and the other is Asian food. Both have great happy hour specials too. They are called Jade and A La Salsa.

If the $20 doesn't include alcohol, I'd vote for Longfellow Grill on East Lake St.
