Default recommended Downtown Bar/Grill with local microbrew?

I'll be visiting Minneapolis in a week, staying downtown in the Downtown West area (S 4th Ave. near the Accenture Tower) and would like recommendations for a good place to eat within walking distance. Preferably one with reasonably-priced food and an assortment of local microbrew beers.

A popular choice with beer snobs as well as the grad student/professor crowd would be the Townhall Brewery at 7 corners on the west bank (address is 1430 Washington Ave). I'm actually not very fond of the place because it tends to attract the condenscending intellectuals crowd but they do have an interesting palette of their own microbrew. It's a cool area though and if you decide you don't like it there you can go to one of the other bars at the same intersection: Sergeant Preston's, 400 Club, Corner Bar and Bullwinkles Saloon.

I'm not too up on micro-brews so I'll leave that for others (though I think Glueks on 6th Street between Hennepin and 1st Ave N will have some--they have a beautiful building with reasonably priced food too--I like their Walleye Sandwich!)

But there are also some decently priced restaurants along Nicollet Mall (Brits, The Local for imported beers and pub-food--Brits has a great rooftop garden with Lawn Bowling). There are also several pricier restaurants too, that are also worthwhile--Vincent, Masa. Further down Nicollet are several great ethnic places (Salsa a la Salsa has great Mexican at 14th Street)

Black Sheep Pizza is in the warehouse District at 6th Ave N and Washington Avenue--great coal fired pizza--if you're up for a walk!

Solara at 9th & Hennepin is another good restaurant, with medium to pricey food--lots of tapis dishes.

Hell's Kitchen in the really ugly Metro Apts Building (at 8th & Marquette) is definitely worth going to for breakfast, lunch or dinner!! its on the lower level.

I may have other ideas later!

I'd head across the Hennepin bridge to Whitey's or the Bulldog. They are right across the street from each other and have good beer selections. Be sure to try Surly beer. It's locally brewed and available at the Bulldog (not sure if it is at Whitey's). It's a good walk from S 4th Ave, maybe a mile?

Thanks for the info! I'll look some of those places when I'm in the area later this week.
