Default When does the Minnetonka boating season end?

When does everyone take their boats out of the water around Lake Minnetonka?

And at what point in the year is it safe to go out on the ice?

Some, its said take their boats off when its no longer feasible to keep cutting holes in the ice long enough to troll in.

But the ice should be at least about 3-4 inches thick to be on safely, but keep in mind that there is no set time of the year for this to happen. Its not automatic its just that it maybe a warmer winter than normal.

Hey, it could happen...

Most people I know will pull their dock & boat out on or before November 1
Historically it is rather cold for boating in November, but I have seen some people out there
- When the ice first forms be careful to auger (cut a hole) to see how thick it is
- before going out with snowmobiles, cars, ice houses, etc
For ice safety please see MN DNR link: Ice safety: General Ice Thickness Guidelines: Minnesota DNR

If you are actually getting into the water, April start (with wetsuit), October end (also with wetsuit). Assuming Early Spring and Indian Summer weather patterns.
