Homes of North Minneapolis (Plymouth, Cleveland: houses, neighborhoods, housing)

Since I often find myself taking pictures of some of my favorite (often historically/architecturally significant) homes while walking/driving the neighborhoods of the Northside, I thought I would start a thread to share them with folks that don't make it up here too often, and/or others interested in sharing their own Northside neighborhood favorites. Today's featured neighborhood:

Willard-Homewood
Also known (officially by the city) as the Willard-Hay neighborhood, I've always loved the unique historic character of the Willard-Homewood neighborhood of Minneapolis; the diversity of its housing stock, residents, and history on the Near North side; and the large, beautiful homes you can find while exploring old tree-lined streets close to Theo Wirth Parkway. Attached are images of some of my favorite homes in this neighborhood (one of them you may have fairly recently seen on the news because of its locally famous/infamous resident):

I'm always defending north minneapolis, because it is so stigmatized. Like every other neighborhood in the world it has it good and bad parts

Thanks for the pics Camden. I actually went walking in that part of the parkway looking for some of those homes.

One house (I think its Carl Ellers) has those big stupid metal cutouts in the yard. They look ridiculous.

LOL, Carl Eller's house is in the pics, and those cutouts are pretty random. MPLS Cleveland- if you're around Theo Wirth Park, go east on Plymouth Ave N, and then take your first right (going South) just past Xerxes and you will stumble onto most of those houses. Once you find the big mansion-esque ones, go around the block. You could also take a left (going North on Xerxes) from Plymouth Ave to find the last two homes.

yeah they're on the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Washburn. Cool little area.
