Looking for some clever ideas to avoid traffic from Saint Paul to Brooklyn Park after 3:30pm
Hello Everyone,
I live in Brooklyn Park and just got a job in the west side of Saint Paul.. Yeap.. nightmare! So, anyway.. traffic in the morning is very good and I can get there in 30 -35 minutes BUT in the afternoon is awefull...
So, I was wondering if I could hear from someone any ideas on how to get back home faster! Right now I have 2 options : 35E, 94W and 252 W or 55 hiawatta, 94W and 252... Is anybody knows any backroad or ANYTHING to help me? My husband and my GPS are out of ideas right now and I know that there is something out there that could make my commute a little better... PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!
Andreia

Hope I get all these roads right but here is another option for you to try. I'm not at all sure it will be faster but in MN with traffic and road conditions, alternate routes are a good thing.
Try taking 10W to 610. If you go W on 610 it sort of dumps you out on the N side of Brooklyn Park.
There is no GOOD way to get where you need to go at that time.

The official West side, as in Plato Blvd, Lafayette/52, Robert St., etc? (Just checking.)
This is a tough one because both St. Paul and Minneapolis are between you and your job, the way the Mississippi flows means the most direct routes cross it twice, and there is no one route that I can think of that avoids all of the usual rush hour traffic jams.
I guess I would try this:
Get on 52 northbound, and transfer to 35E northbound via 94 west (or skip 94 and go straight north 1/4 mile to University, go left, then right on Mississippi up to Pennsylvania/Phalen, and get on 35E there).
Then take 35E up to 694 and head west. You can either take 694 across into Brooklyn Center and go from there, or catch 35W northbound a few miles to State Hwy 10, follow that to 610, and take that home to Brooklyn Park. Which way to go depends on where in BP your home is, and probably the exact time of day (694 all the way is less distance, but it jams up daily.)

I got a good way to completely avoid 35W north of Hwy 36 if you can get near Cleveland north of I94 between StP and Mpls. From there you will be on Hwy 10 West up near Shoreview.

Flying car? Rent a time machine? (or better yet- find the Dolorean from Back to the Future) - I feel for you, I've made the commute from the West side to the NW corner of Mpls a few times, and that's about as far as I'll go as far as dealing with traffic here in the metro area (could be worse, though, at least you're not coming from south of the river suburbia).

My best advice for a rough a commute, find a good radio station and do your best to keep your sanity. I commuted from Ramsey to Eagan for a month and it was brutal. I also occasionally make the afternoon commute from Eagan to Minnetonka and that can get a little dicey too. Fortunately I've found a good combination of talk radio stations to keep my mind off the traffic, it makes the time go by faster.

a helicopter or small airplane would be your best bet. as previously mentioned, a delorean would be ideal. otherwise, bring a pillow and sleeping bag because you are going camping in your car.

When it's really bad I have followed University Ave all the way to 694 which will drop you right in BP. Sometimes it is better to keep moving, even if it takes a little longer.
