Agreed that Barnard is above and beyond everybody else on the show. Other guys like Stretch and Zepp can be really good in small doses but I'm not sure either of them have what it takes to host the show. In all honesty once Tom is gone I'll probably stick mostly to the 93X morning show. Is it just me or has Nick stolen that show? Beyond Tom I'd rank him second for Twin Cities morning show personalities.

Some of the Spanish station morning shows have potential as well. My personal favorite right now is 1400 La Invasora. They just mix in tunes alot more and their on-air commercials go on forever, otherwise I'd probably listen to them more often.

Yeah, I like Nick on 93X. His banter with Randy Shaver is gold. One thing that annoys me about the 93X show is how obviously fake and pandering they come off to their young male demographic at times. From 5:30-6 they come off as just three guys shooting the breeze and are much more entertaining than the rest of the show (minus most of the Shaver time) where it's just "BOOBS!"

BTW, you can hear Nick (and a few other 93X guys) on some of the Grand Theft Auto games doing commericals.

Like I said, my tastes have changed over 20 years. I dont think the show has changed much. Not saying his format is unsuccessful as there are a new batch of listeners coming in every year that the format caters too.

If I was doing the same thing now as I was at 20 I'd go nuts.

the radio market is perhaps the worst thing about this area. even st cloud has better radio than here. about 80% of it is right wing radio or religion. the remaining 20% is just crap. about the only thing worth listening to is 91.1 KNOW or AM950 which has about a 5 mile range.

I really miss the morning show. Never mattered to me if I agreed with them or not, it was entertaining. I agree the others can't step in to Tom's place. I wonder what they will do.

Fine with me. I was a faithful listener for years, until Tom decided to go off on his constant political rants. His yucking it up over Paul Wellstone's death was a total turn off to me. I really didn't care where he stood on the political spectrum, but he crossed the line with some of his comments. I find HOWARD STERN less abrasive. I've been listening to Stern on satellite for the past few years and find it much more tolerable. Howard never gets on a political soap box.

When I used to travel SW Minnesota for business all the time, I never missed the Cannon Mess. To me, Steve Cannon was the best radio personality ever in the area. I still remember his show came on at 3:00 on WCCO.

When he retired, I think Mpls-St. Paul and the midwest lost the best show going. He had his opinions (or maybe it was Backlash, Morgan, or Ma) but they weren't offensive to the point of being mean like so much of talk radio now is.
