I'm looking for a good place to practice social dance (waltz, tango, etc.) with a partner. We don't need lessons; I know what I'm doing. I just need floor space, privacy, and access to an electrical outlet for music. The person I'll be dancing with is a shy and does not want to go someplace where partner switching would be expected. Just the two of us would be ideal.
Does anybody have suggestions for finding a good, quiet location for that sort of thing? I can't do it in my apartment because my downstairs neighbors would throw a fit, and I don't feel like dueling radios with them again.
On another note, is anybody on this thread into social dance? Where do you go? I have heard good things about the Cinema Ballroom.

I know someone who goes to Tango at the Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown. It's actually a restaurant, but they have live music and a floor on weekends I believe.

If they do ballroom dancing at Loring Pasta Bar it's news to me. Every time I've gone there it has been Latin dancing: Salsa, Cumbia and Bachata.
Everyone might be surprised by this, but Minneapolis/St.Paul in the 1960's was home to fully 10% of America's Ballrooms. I grew up in the ballroom atmosphere - the Marigold, Medina, Prom, Bel Rae, Majestic, Princeton, etc.
Today, just google "Minneapolis Ballrooms" or "St. Paul Ballrooms." It's not hard to find places for social dancing!
