Default Wanted: Living advice for young professional

Hi all,

I'll be moving Mnpls soon I need advice about where to live. I'm a 24 year old male, coming from U of M, Ann Arbor and I'll be working in Burnsville. So far I've been looking at stuff downtown or in Uptown. Open to anything really, just don't know what's out there right now.

Thoughts? ...and thanks in advance.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you don't mind a 20 - 25 minute commute, then Uptown would probably be the best bet. Uptown is full of young, 20-something professionals that work during the week and go out to bars on weekends. Plus, you're only 10 minutes from downtown and blocks from Lake Calhoun.

I wouldn't recommend living downtown. It's expensive and a hassle. Plus, it would add an extra 10 minutes of commuting to work.

You could live in the burbs, near Burnsville, and be close to work. However, you might be a little bored. There isn't much down there... I wouldn't recommend Burnsville if you like to go out or if you don't know anyone out here.

jrod, any luck? My wife and I are a couple of years older than you but will be relocating to Minneapolis this summer. We are coming from Boston after 4 years in Ann Arbor at U of M. We were in Minneapolis a couple of weeks ago and were torn between uptown (my preference) and downtown near the warehouse/mill district (my wife's preference). Just curious what your thoughts have been so far?
