ok i live in a condo so i cant just take it downstairs to the trash room. We have a dumpster outside. But that means i would have to load the tree in the car and drive to the dumpster. The problem is that the tree is shedding so dragging it downstairs is gonna leave a huge mess over the carpet. Any suggestions for how to get rid of my tree without making a huge mess? or are there any organizations who can come pick it up for free?

This will help with the mess: http://www.amazon.com/Tree-Storage-B.../dp/B005HP3898

I'm not sure what to do after that.

could by a cheap pair of lopers and cut all the branches in small pieces to bring most of it out in large garbage bags.

you will need to saw (could use a carving knife) the trunk in a couple places to get that smuggled out

We've wrapped it in a sheet before to bring outside. Just be careful to shake out all the needles from the sheet when you're outside before you come back in.

Could you just ask the management company? They might have an established procedure in place. I live in a townhouse community and we have a couple of scheduled pickup dates in January. Maybe where you live has something similar?

You could decorate the bag with markers! Perhaps draw ornaments....
